This is a SUPER ANCIENT event that did happen in-game, but not quite to the effect shown here. Relina's party had to venture into a city. The only problem was that this particular city did not allow elves to enter, which created a problem for Relina. One of her party members casually suggested, "Just cut off your ears," so she could pass as a human.

...needless to say, Relina did not take him up on his offer!
