Columbian Mammoth Plush

Description

Do you know what it's like to stand next to just the skeleton of a Columbian Mammoth, only to realize just how tiny and mortal you are? I do! I got to visit the La Brea Tar Pits in California last summer, and the Columbian Mammoth skeleton, at an "average" height of twelve feet tall was just massive! You look up to see those huge tusks, and realize that with one swipe of its head, you would be sent flying! There's no bones in the trunk, so you need to use more imagination to envision how easily it could overpower you with just its nose, but still! They've been gone a long time, but just their mere skeletons demand some respect!

Anyway, it was amazing to finally see a Columbian Mammoth in person. I'm not sure trying to bring them back from extinction is necessarily a good idea, but I am curious to see if scientists ever manage it, just the same.

I'll probably make a Woolly Mammoth plush someday as well...maybe. Columbian Mammoths are special to me, since in recent years the tusk from one was dug up from the nearby Seattle area, and it's just cool to think that I walk where these ancient behemoths once walked.

If you have made it past all of my gushing, you can find this and many other Mega Fauna on my Etsy Shop!
